One thing i miss is the wolf-school-gear, which would make a great questline around Kaer Morhen (you made al that landmass, might aswell use it). Even if there is some better gear out there, the mastercrafted gear does it's job till Lv 35, so you don't have to find a new set (seriously, you won't miss the 5 armor or 10 dmg anyway). I basically stuck to one witcher-school and kept it over the whole game, never looking at the random loot i got. Also, apart from the witcher-school-sets, it is hard to get matching clothes with appropriate stats, but that's just a problem of scattered equipment.
It is just sad to see a lack of cool gear, after Witcher 2 basically had a great design for 80% of its sets. Heck, most of the Smiths shouldn't even sell silver swords. I mean in a world of knights in plate you will not find a lot of diagrams and equipment for a typical witcher. There are nice armors in this game (i like all the witcher-gears), but I agree that apart from a few exceptions, most of the gear isn't very witchery.
